The Golf Club of Amelia Island’s Ladies Golf Association held its closing day events on May 25. On a beautiful day, they started with a team one low gross on the front nine and one low net on the back nine competition.

After the game, there was a “breakfast for lunch” of eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles, fresh fruit, cookies and brownies, the league meeting and an awards ceremony.

The day’s winners included Mary Ellen Mendes, Emily Gordon, Liz Ritter and Cissy Kunkle, first place; and Sue Riegler, Sue Burke, Suzanna Braun and Chris Danbeck, second.

Among the year-end awards were the coveted six-week Stableford Team Award to the Birdie Bunch and the Most Improved Award to Jean Black.

Additional year-end awards were also announced. For birdies, first place was captured by Sue Lansdell, Sue Riegler was second, and Linda Larabee was third.

For chip-ins, first went to Sue Burke, second to Jane Casper and third to Sue Roesgen. First-place ringers went to Rosemarie Husak, second to Tara Lindhart and third to Nancy Carpenter. For sandies, first place went to Mia Fitzgerald, second to Melinda McGrath and third to Cathy Ebeck.
