Global event, Make Music Day, hits Nassau County street corners for second year

The unofficial musical holiday celebrated worldwide will expand into Nassau County for the second year in a row. Between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 21, locals can enjoy live music for free in downtown Fernandina Beach and also in Wildlight. Make Music Day is the largest music event in the world.

Nassau County approves Flood Adaptation Plan

Nassau County is taking steps to boost its flood resiliency. The Board of County Commissioners approved two items at its May 20 meeting that staff said will assist the county in just that.

Budget talks set to begin in June

Nassau County has set the date for their first budget talks for the upcoming fiscal year. On June 22, the Board of County Commissioners will join county staff in a workshop to discuss the 2026-27 Fiscal Year budget. The 9 a.m. meeting will be held at the James S. Page Governmental Complex.

Companies power up for hurricane season

With hurricane season beginning June 1, electric companies serving Nassau County are already preparing for the possibility of severe weather through infrastructure upgrades, storm-response exercises and preventative maintenance efforts aimed at limiting outages.
